There are two ways to bid.
'Static': This means that you place the next bid or enter a specific amount as a bid yourself. This is a one-time action. If someone places a higher bid, you will have to manually bid again in the same way.
'Auto bid': An auto bid is a way to automatically participate in a bidding process. You enter a maximum amount that you are willing to pay for an item and then bids are automatically placed for you up to your maximum bid - but only if necessary. Your maximum bid is hidden from other bidders during the auction. Placed automatic bids are indicated with an "A" next to the placed bid in the bidding history.
If you choose manual bidding, you will have to manually update your bid every time someone outbids you. Keep in mind that an automatic bid that is the same as a manual bid will always lead the auction - because it is automatically placed first. By choosing auto bid, you increase your chances of winning.
You can cancel an 'Auto bid' yourself by placing a static bid that is one bidding step higher than the current bid.
